Grossmont College




The Culinary Arts Program provides the training needed for a variety of careers. Professionally trained individuals are needed to fill occupational positions in different areas.

The outlook for occupations in culinary arts and hospitality industry is excellent. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts the number of chef positions to increase by 50% by the year 2010. In California the demand for all jobs in the culinary arts and hospitality industry should increase 40-60%. If you enjoy working with food and people, you are a good candidate for the ROP/Grossmont College Culinary Arts Program. You will have the opportunity toward the end of the program to be placed for actual on-the-job work experience.

All ROP students who successfully complete a course, receive a certificate of completion. Students who pay for college tutition and take the courses for college credit have the following options:

Culinary Arts DishA Grossmont College Certificate of Achievement, a Certificate of Proficiency, and an Associate Degree of Science in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry, and Culinary Entrepreneur

Certifiates of Proficiency require 13 college credits. There are certificates available in Pastry Cook, Banquet Cook, Prep Cook, and Line Cookk.
