Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College (Food & Nutrition)

The Woodlands Wisdom Nutrition Project is a confederation of six Woodlands Tribal colleges and the University of Minnesota. LCOOCC is among these colleges who have collaborated and created an Associate of Science and 1-year certificate program. The goal of the Woodlands Wisdom Nutrition Project is to improve the overall health of Native American people by enhancing regional community consciousness around how food and nutrition impacts community health and well being. A shared premise which underlies the work of Woodlands Wisdom is that traditional customs and practices may offer part6 of the solution to the high rates of diabetes, heart disease, and other health risks. The confederation developed a shared curriculum that centers around the student learning experience that bridges cultural worldviews while honoring and respecting all.
