Lakeland Community College and the Auburn Career Center now offer the Northeast Ohio Culinary Institute (NOCI), offering a two-year program in culinary arts.

Led by Chef Bob Lubecky, students learn the culinary secrets of the trade ranging from creating the perfect radish rose to baking a delicate pastry plus they'll get to participate in classical cuisine and food show competition. Students will also learn the business side of culinary arts such as food purchasing, sanitation and equipment.

The food service industry's needs for educated and skilled workers will continue to grow nationally during the rest of this decade. The employment outlook for Lake County and the State of Ohio forecasts a continuing rate of growth. Restaurant manager, baker, pastry chef, food production worker, caterer, line cook and chef are positions that are representative of employment opportunities in the industry.
