Royal Tine Camp Cook School

Welcome to the Royal Tine Camp Cook School taught by LeRee' Hensen. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone looking for a healthy and rewarding career in the outdoors. It may be especially enjoyable for wives or girlfriends who want a job in the same outfit to form a guide/cook team with their spouse or partner.

My personal experience includes cooking and guiding for outfitters in Montana, Idaho and Alaska since 1990. I am a fourth generation Montanan born and raised on a cattle ranch "under the Big Sky". I am also an avid hunter and outdoor person. Cody and I have been operating the Guide and Packer School since 1994.

The emphasis of this school's 4 and 5 week curriculum is cooking and working for backcountry outfitters, who use stock and are far back into wilderness areas. While at school, you will be staying and cooking in wall tents at a camp similar to the one you would find working for a backcountry outfitter. The camp is located on a 17,000-acre family cattle ranch that lies in the foothills of the Anaconda-Pintlar Wilderness and is bordered by Forest Service land. There is a shower tent facility but no electricity or running water. Classes run from 5:30 am to 6 pm six days per week. Mondays will be your day off to go to town, handle any personal errands, fish (if licensed) or relax. The closest town is Philipsburg with a population of about 900 and is 17 miles from camp.
