Shelton State Community College (The Culinary Arts Program)
The Culinary Arts program provides students with an opportunity to acquire critical competencies and practical skills necessary to perform successfully and creatively in the culinary arts and food service industry. Topics include food selection and preparation, menu planning, meal management, and restaurant and food service operation.
Students may earn an Associate in Applied Science degree, as well as certifications in Food Safety and Nutrition, both recognized by the National Restaurant Association as industry standards. This is a 75 hour credit program and can be complete in a minimum of 6 semesters for a full time student.
Among the many careers in the Food Service Industry which program graduates will be prepared to enter are: Sous Chefs, Bakers Assistants, Assistant Restaurant Managers and Kitchen Managers.
