St. Philip's College (Department of Tourism, Hospitality & Culinary Arts)

The Department of Tourism, Hospitality, and Culinary Arts features programs in five primary occupational areas and has a full-time faculty member and advisor to work directly with students in each area.

All programs involve students in classroom-based learning experiences, as well as lab experience, and work-based learning during a practicum course. Department Courses are offered during morning, afternoon, and evening sessions.

Department of Tourism, Hospitality, and Culinary Arts prepares students for careers in the visitor and hospitality industries that are vital to the San Antonio and south Texas economy. The industry has grown handsomely in the recent past and is currently the city's second largest industry. Approximately 8 million people visit San Antonio per year, and the tourism industry has an estimated $4 billion impact on the city's economy.

The job prospects are bright for students and graduates with degrees in Tourism, Hospitality, and Culinary Arts. The culinary and hospitality industries are booming.

The restaurant industry alone will see another two million jobs open in the next ten years - an industry that already employs almost 13 million people, making it the nation's largest employer outside of government. In fact, there are more hotel and restaurant managers in this country than any other kind of manager.
