The Elephant Walk

The mother-daughter team of Longteine (known among friends and family by her nickname "Nyep") and Nadsa de Monteiro are responsible for the cuisine of The Elephant Walk. Each of them teaches cooking classes throughout the year - Nadsa at The Elephant Walk in Boston and Nyep at her home in Jamaica Plain.

Nyep's focus tends to be on traditional Cambodian cuisine while Nadsa, more the maverick, will teach traditional and original Cambodian dishes as well as French and even "fusion" cooking, dishes that include techniques and ingredients of more than one culinary tradition.

Gerard Lopez is Nyep's son-in-law and Nadsa's brother-in-law. Chef at The Elephant Walk in Cambridge, he is a native of Beziers in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. Gerard generally teaches - you guessed it - French cuisine! His father was a Spaniard, however, so Gerard does occasionally teach a Spanish class as well. A frequent lecturer at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts (of which he is also an alumnus), Gerard is a knowledgeable and entertaining instructor!

Cooking classes - including cooking class gift certificates with open dates, enabling lucky recipients to register for the classes of their choice - make excellent, original gifts.
