     Apprenticeship:

    Based on learning by working in a hotel, club or restaurant and controlled by a skilled professional. Admission requirements may include an academic or work references, and some require high school diploma or GED.

     Culinary Seminars:

    Short cooking classes ranging from 1 day to 2 months. Most of them do not have admission requirements.

     Diploma & Certificate:

    The duration takes 1 month to 2 years offered in cooking institutes, cooking school, community college or trade/vocational school. Some benefits are this not counts toward a BA, may not need prerequisites such us a high school diploma or GED, academic or work reference.
    The coursework focuses on culinary applications only providing the student a foundation for a culinary career. Even more, this degree is ideal for people who want training and on-the-job experience as soon as possible.

     Associates:

    This degree counts for a BA, the duration takes 9 months to 2 years and it is offered in culinary institute or community college. The basic prerequisites are to have a high school diploma or GED and an academic or work reference, so it is ideal for people who want a degree and job experience as soon as possible. Besides, courses outside of culinary major are required and provides the student a foundation for a culinary career.
    Furthermore, this program provides the basic training and education for cooks and apprentice chefs, offering the opportunity to:

        Acquire professional qualities.
        Entry-level cook like: artistic food preparation, stamina, timing, hand-eye     coordination, dexterity, and aptitude to work with others.
        Advance practice and learn of technical skills in food preparation and     service.
        Get familiar experience with: house operations, buffet work and plate     presentation, kitchen management principles, purchase and inventory     controls.
        Understand the food/beverage composition, food identification,     nutrition, and dietetics.
        Appreciate the history, evolution, and international diversity of the     culinary arts.
        Have sense of professionalism to work successfully in the food     service/hospitality industry; etc.

     Bachelors:

    The duration takes 4 years offered in Cooking Institutes or University. Its requirements are to have a high school diploma or GED, a satisfactory high school GPA and SAT scores, and a personal essay and references. It is ideal for people who want to be managers, food writers or restaurant owners.

     Masters:

    The duration takes 2 years and it is offered in a University. The minimum prerequisite is to have a Bachelor's from an accredited university. It is ideal for people who want to be managers, culinary instructors, restaurant owners, academics, nutritionists or dieticians.

     Doctorate:

    The duration takes 4 to 6 years and it is offered in a University. The minimum prerequisite is to have a Bachelor's from an accredited university. It is ideal for those who want to be culinary instructors, academics, nutritionists or dieticians.
