Accreditation is a quality commitment process in which the services, operations and facilities of an institution are analyzed by an agency in order to establish if the standards are applicable.

Mostly, this function is lead by governmental institution. In spite of this, in the US accreditation implicates non-governmental and qualified people to qualified this programs or schools. These accreditors will be regional, national or specialized people who use criteria and evaluation procedures to resolve if schools and institutes are operating at basic levels with quality.

Some advantages to accreditation are: to get educational effectiveness, to establish qualification for participation in programs with financial aid, and to assurances quality.

However, this is not a guaranty that to qualify it with the highest standards in the US and around the world. This is the reason why the American Culinary Federation (ACF) has developed its own accrediting system years ago, giving the accreditation only for culinary institutes.

There will be many important facts that you will have to consider at the time to make your choice for a school, might be that you decided for a non-accredited one.
