Honduran cuisine

Honduran dish

Honduran cuisine is a mix of Mayan, Spanish food, and Mexican food; and its basic ingredient is the coconut in both sweet and salty dishes.

There are also many regional dishes that use fried fish, tamales, carne asada, and baleadas. Besides, in coastal places people rather use seafood in most of their dishes, and sometimes meat, and both are prepared with coconut milk.

Honduras has also different types of soups including soups of beans, mondongo, seafood, beef, and many more, which are combined with plaintains, cabbage, yucca, and corn tortillas. Among fresh dishes, Honduran cuisine uses many fruits, which sometimes are still green, like papaya, pineapple, plums, zapotes, passion fruit, and bananas.
